Per Capita Murder Capitals (methodology)

In political economy, security and insecurity are key inputs to health, income, et al outputs. Who is secure? Who is not?

Today, Saudis piloted Boeing F-15s to Turkey for military operations contra Syrian targets: 1) Kurds and 2) Assad's Syrian state. Turkey is NATO, obligating the United States to defend Turkish national security. Despite decades of support for Pentagon operations in Gulf War 1 and Gulf War 2, Kurds enjoy no such protections.

"they got money for wars but can't"... clean Flint Water?

Measured in financial terms, Saudi Arabia is USA security customer #1: Obama/Clinton sold $60B, 20-year hardware/security package in 2010. Buying-up from 2007 $20B deal with Bush/Rice State Department.

Clinton's enthusiasm for Boeing is acute. Two press pieces:

Washington Examiner (2015):
Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly pushed back (Moscow Times 2010) on the decision to build a Russian fleet with American planes. But Boeing and Airbus still supplied the majority of its aircraft through the agreement Clinton touted during her swing through Russia.
Washington Post (2014):
In 2010, two months after Boeing won its $3.7 billion Russia deal, the company announced a $900,000 contribution to the William J. Clinton Foundation intended to rebuild schools in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. The foundation, which Hillary Clinton now helps lead with her husband and daughter, has become a popular charity for major corporations.

Apropos the Kissinger debate exchange between Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton, Secretary Kissinger was present at 1971 fall of Bretton Woods gold convertiblity (Nixon). NYU historian Greg Grandin points out Kissinger's fingerprints on the 1973 petro-dollar-arms trade that rose from BW's ashes (Nation 2016). Flash forward, Kissinger's hagiographer, Secretary Clinton (WaPo 2014), represented State at a record-breaking September 2010 $60B, 20-year pinnacle.

Leading deal critic in 2010.. Anthony Weiner? (ABC) NY Representative Weiner husband to Clinton loyalist Huma Abedin. Weiner also objected to Bush/Rice Era $20B Saudi sales (New York Sun). Which is an extraordinary confluence of storylines.
Among the most curious hits for "Saudi" among Clinton email cache is revelation of a Saudi-Haiti refinery interest.  The value of the deal quoted at $30-$35billion. Not chump change. State Department Special Coordinator for Haiti Thomas Adams raised these details to Mills "@state" - who raised them to "@clintonmail":

HaitiConnexion, a blogger on Haitian money since 2014, discovered the same documentation (Jan 10, 2016). Note classification. Key pieces of the email thread are redacted. Reason1.4D code refers to "1.4 (d)  Foreign relations or foreign activities of the United States, including confidential sources" (archive.org). Declassify date: 2026.

Early USA media report of Haitian oil in the US media - January 26, 2011 - when a seasoned, senior Dallas geologist Steven Pierce (bio) explained that the earthquake may expose a trillion cubic feet of of oil (source: Business Week 1/26/10; syndicated: Seattle Times). Industry publication World Oil article from 1/27/2010 suggested similar and is visible today only via Internet ArchiveThe most frequent name publicizing Haitian oil wealth: Daniel Malthurin. Here is a crowd-sourced investigation of Malthurin's credibility (blogger) that raises more questions than it answers. Notably, Haitian President Martelly remembered Daniel Malthurin as a patriot upon his passing in fatal car accident (2013). His wife and partner survived same crash (Haitian Observer).

Geologically related to Haitian oil wealth, the earthquake promoted Haitian mining interests. Hillary's brother - Tony Rodham - floated on the periphery of Haitian gold mining deals (New York Times, 2015). Associated Press valued Haitian gold at $20B (2012) and make the obvious connection:
Gold was last gathered in Haiti in the 1500s, after Christopher Columbus ran the Santa Maria onto a Haitian reef. Spaniards enslaved the Arawak Indians to dig for gold, killing them off with harsh conditions and infectious diseases. When the Spaniards learned of even more lucrative deposits in Mexico, they moved on.
Clinton explains rationale for force contra 1994 Haitian government. (YouTube) Evan Thomas of Newsweek captured the puzzled American perception of a war with so little shooting (1994)

Uniting these geo-political threads: the Clintons are not rookies to Haiti. As newlyweds, they honeymooned there. As First Couple, President Clinton (kinda) invaded Haiti in 1994 with 20,000 marines. Reviewing Goff's Hideous Dream in Chicago Tribune (2001), Madison Smartt Bell (bio) describes the itinerary:
The nature of the mission changed in mid-air. When the planes took off, the soldiers had been told that the Haitian army and its associated paramilitary death squad were enemies to be neutralized as efficiently as possible, on the road to the restoration of the legally elected government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and his party, Lavalas. By the time the planes landed, the army and the death squad had morphed into quasi-allies with which the U.S. military was expected to cooperate. Shacochis and others have reported the state of cognitive dissonance this switch induced in the troops.

Whatever the case, little changed (Daily Beast 2010).  Dady Chery (bio) documents complaints of Clintonian "aid" to  Haiti (2014) before documenting diseased Haitian millet (2016).

Of the Haitian earthquake: there is lots of coverage of relief fundraising. As if that was the point. The magnitude of capital raised is staggering: "The Clintons also helped mobilize an effort in which international donors pledged $10.4 billion, including $3.9 billion from the United States. (Washington Post).

Mills defending President Clinton before impeachment proceedings in the Senate 1/20/99 (CSPAN)

Concerning the thread on Saudi refinery in Haiti, Cheryl Mills requested JLW attend - LinkedIn, Brietbart. Mills and JLW - now partner to run industrial developer, BlackIvy, from Chevy Chase, MD. Mills remains active at Clinton Foundation board (Clinton). BlackIvy operates on both coasts:

  2. West: Ghana JLW slide deck - October 2015

Those Black Ivy ventures overlap geopolitically with Clinton Foundation and State Department policy in Haiti. Back to Washington Post (2014):
The Clintons helped Haitian officials identify Sae-A Trading Co., which operates factories across the developing world and sews garments for giants such as Target, Gap and Wal-Mart, as a potential major investor.
As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, along with top aide Cheryl Mills, lobbied for the project with South Korean officials and hosted Sae-A executives in Washington to press the plan.

Inextricable and Mutual Sadness

Measured by % of the overall population, black men in the US are most disproportionately victims of fatal police violence; black women are also disproportionately killed. Whereas police kill Hispanics "equitably", only non-Hispanic white and Asian men, and women, are killed less than their share of the general population. In Asians’ case, much much less. That inequitable pattern is amplified in California. In California, Asians make up 15% of the population and less than 4% of police killings, a proportionality gap 3x more favorable than the gap for non-Hispanic whites. By comparison, black Californians are 6.5% of the state population and 16% of police homicides: an inequality 38% worse than the already inequitable national benchmark. That data led to basic factual and analytical errors, including among high-profile California officials. Those errors also revealed the best and brightest's basic ignorance of #BlackLivesMatter most important messages. Take future CA gove

Operation Anvil

Latest homicide map is linked here . Overall goal: explain why the Americas have such low rates of successfully prosecuted murder compared to EU and APAC . And why - as murder rates declining - are solved murder rates declining in the United States? For a quick summary of the state of homicide within the United States: http://gritsforbreakfast.blogspot.com/2010/06/homicide-clearance-rates-on-decline.html http://anepigone.blogspot.com/2013/01/rates-of-unsolved-murder-by-state.html To start: where are the murders? Latest homicide map is linked here . Next, I want to map stories to these cities. Later, add more data sources (eg, unsolved murder data). LEAP Nomination

I recommend Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) because they work on the root cause of the most pressing health, security, and civil rights subject in the United States: the war on drugs. Recent CDC data shows that heroin use now qualifies as an epidemic. The Center attributes the heroin boom to the prescription opioid boom of the last 20 years. The drug war approach disables the most vulnerable from finding help. Prohibition's emphasis on arrest yields an exceptional imbalance: the US has 5% of the world's people, but 25% of its prisoners. Incarceration does not rehabilitate offenders. Quite the opposite. Data clearly shows that the incarcerated are at higher risk for re-admission - and that their families, especially their children, experience higher risk for incarceration. That dynamic is a clear and present national security risk, including to California. Just this last weekend, in Chicago, more than 50 people were shot. For the second straight weekend.
